Another Idea...

What do Ruffles (the chips), chocolate chips and toffee chips have in common?

They make this wonderful marvelous treat!
This past Saturday we had our annual Ladies Christmas event at Cahaba Park.  Every year the extremely talented Mary Saxon shares edible Christmas gifts (this is where I have gotten almost all of my edible gift ideas).  This was an idea that she shared at the very end, almost as an afterthought.  I had my doubts at first, until I tasted a chip.  Then I ate so many I felt sick!  Oh my goodness is all I can say. They are the perfect combination of Salty and Sweet!

All you need:
Ruffles
Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Toffee Chips
To prepare, spread the chips out flat.  I would suggest using parchment paper so you don't have to wash any dishes, but of course I was out.  However, I will say the cookie sheets helped Miller and Ella the mess contained.
Melt the chocolate.  I prefer to melt chocolate (if it is just chips) in the microwave.
Microwave for 60 seconds, then take out and stir.  Put back in for 30 seconds, take out and stir.  Continue until the chocolate is creamy and smooth.  Be sure to stir each time.  The chips may not look like they have started to melt, but looks can be deceiving.  They will be melted.
Put melted chocolate in plastic bag and barely clip the corner.  You will inevitable get chocolate on your fingers and have to lick it off (and then of course wash your hands before continuing to work with the food).
Drizzle the chocolate over the chips.
If you are lucky, you will get chips from Miller's batch.  He got the drizzle idea, just not that you were supposed to move on to different chips.  Many of his chips have big mounds of chocolate.
Sprinkle toffee chips over the chips.
And then of course, you have to taste your wonderful creation.
The only problem is once you start...
 you just cannot stop.
 Ask Murray:)
After the chocolate has hardened, place the chips in a clear gift bag with a festive wrapping and you have the gift that everyone will be talking about!

  1. I agree- I was skeptical at first, but once I tried them I couldn't stop eating. So, so good.
